About Me

I strongly believe in math, data, and experimentation. I’ve been a data scientist for 16 years, working across multiple industries, and a former NASA systems engineer (aka rocket scientist). Over that time, I’ve learned that the world is often confusing, everyone has an opinion, and the only way to know the truth is to test and analyze the results.

I’m now applying that mindset to the world of health. In the age where the scientific research often conflicts and everyone on social media will confidently tell you what “always works,” I’m playing the skeptic and trying to find out what’s actually true with data. In practice, this involves crowd sourcing real-world results on what actually helps, testing product and treatment effectiveness by running experiments on myself and other volunteers, and deep-diving into the results from past research studies to find out what’s really going on.

My goal is to build health tools based around statistics and data to help make people’s lives better. I’m a father of two kids with atopic dermatitis and eczema runs in my family, so I've started Honeybadger Care there. However, this is more of a springboard versus limitation. If you have suggestions on where I can help bring clarity or a new perspective, please email me at josh@honeybadger.care.
